Welcome to the California Coastal Farmhomes in West Berkeley.

Conceived by well known Designer John Newton and completed in 2024, these two newly constructed homes offer a contemporary interpretation of traditional farmhouse style fused with California coastal-inspired aesthetics. A blend of natural materials, calming neutral color palettes, and beachy textures create casual and comfortable living environments that appeal to modern-day lifestyles. Signature design elements include shiplap siding treatments and a "Weathered Moss" accent color that adds a touch of playfulness.  Both homes have been thoughtfully designed with tall ceilings, oversized windows for an abundance of natural light, and open floorplans that facilitate seamless indoor/outdoor living.

Each home has four bedrooms and three full baths, with one bedroom and bath positioned downstairs that would allow for a den, home office or small guest suite. Upstairs, the spacious primary suites feature vaulted ceilings, ample closets with organizers, and an ensuite bath featuring a large walk-in shower and dual-sink vanities. A highlight of each home is the loft area at the top of the stairs, offering a versatile space that can be transformed into an extra family room space, flexible work area, or a cozy reading nook. In the open-concept kitchen/dining/living room, large 16-ft. glass sliders sweep across the entire rear wall and flood the space with natural light, creating an inviting space to hang out and entertain. The sliders open onto private backyards with comfortable patios, ideal for indoor/outdoor entertaining. The kitchens feature casual counter seating, quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, and farmhouse sinks. A Herringbone tile backsplash and a central butcher block island adds artisanal warmth and distinguishes one of the homes. Interior details include paneled wood siding, crown molding, engineered oak hardwood flooring, custom-tiled bathrooms, and designer lighting.

Many other thoughtful elements have been integrated throughout the houses to maximize the long-term value and comfort for future owners, including an attached 1-car garage, side-by-side W/Ds, coat and linen closets,  A/C w/ Heat Pump system, fire sprinklers, car charger setup, solar panels, underground drainage, fire resistant fiber cement siding, and adherence to the latest seismic and energy efficiency standards.

A great West Berkeley location puts you close to 4th St. Shops, Berkeley Bowl, and walking distance to Rosa Parks School, Franklin Bros Market, Coro Coffee Room,Third Culture Bakery, Standard Fare, Cafe Chiave, Anchalee Thai, and more! You’re also a 7-minute bike ride to North Berkeley BART. Walk score is 89 and bike score is 99.

about this

Neighborhood

Southwest Berkeley is located less than two miles from Downtown Berkeley and is one of the area’s most popular residential neighborhoods. Other great features of Southwest Berkeley include convenient access to Northwest Berkeley’s Fourth Street, Berkeley Marina, and a variety of local shops and restaurants.

The City of Berkeley offers beautiful public parks, each with its own amenities and features. Southwest Berkeley residents love to visit Cedar Rose Park and Strawberry Park. Cedar Rose Park, located just north of Cedar Street, features open grassy areas, a children’s playground, and a peaceful atmosphere perfect for relaxation or a casual game of frisbee. Strawberry Park, a charming green space, provides a great spot for enjoying the outdoors with family, friends, or pets.

Most of Southwest Berkeley’s popular restaurants can be found on or near San Pablo Avenue, which effectively runs through the neighborhood. Whether you are looking for a casual coffee shop before your commute or an amazing culinary experience to share with friends, you will probably find it on San Pablo Avenue. Notable restaurants include Caffe Chiave, Longbranch Saloon, and Anchalee.

Oakland, UC Berkeley, and Albany, CA, are all within a 15-minute bus ride from Southwest Berkeley. AC Transit Route 72 runs north and south on San Pablo Avenue, and with buses running every 10 minutes during the day, it’s always convenient to walk over and catch a ride. Plus, Downtown Berkeley’s BART Station is just a short rideshare away, which can take you to the Financial District or Google headquarters in approximately half an hour.
